Goals: (in words of Mr. Ryder)

“How can we use visual language to convey a powerful and poetic  idea so clearly that one cannot help but reach the same conclusion and recreate the original intent?

What I see us emphasizing with our students is to empathize and see those images from the p.o.v. of visual poet.  Kid B doesn’t interpret and create an inspired piece; instead, Kid B writes a poem believed to be as authentic a representation of the original intent as possible.

When Kid A and Kid B come together, they get to see how effective each was in the effort to think about perception and convey meaning.  The final media piece will be a way of demonstrating the common experience.

Collectively,  we can then look at the trends across the projects.  Which ideas seemed most well conveyed and why? What does this tell us about visual language?  About verbal language?  About experience and interpretation.?

How can that inform our ability to communicate and to receive information?”

Directions:

1. Post your image collage to your BLOG then the LINK to your BLOG POST in the appropriate box on the spreadsheet

2. Create a semi-private Google Doc for your original poem, and post the link on the spreadsheet. The only people who should be able to see it until after 4/18 are you and your teacher

 

TIME FRAME

by Monday, April 14: Upload image collage to your blog AND post to the spreadsheet

by Tuesday, April 15: Upload your original poem, but keep it secret on  G doc shared only with your teacher for the tie being

by Friday, April 18: Interpretation poems of chosen images due

by Monday, April 21: release your original poem (unlock permissions in the G doc and make public)

By the week of April 28-May 2: REMASH should be complete and posted to spreadsheet
